Updated! LFS Claims and its connections to dubious CMC’s
Updated: Apr 23, 2019
LFS Claims is an existing regulated CMC who specialises in PPI claims sold on mortgages, loans and credit cards.
LFS Claims is the trading name of Legal and Financial Solutions Ltd, which was incorporated on 14th December 2004 by 2 directors including Ciaran Hamilton, who is still a current director. The company’s registered office is Express Networks 1, 1 George Leigh Street, Manchester.
Since 2004, Mr Hamilton has held several other directorships, which include the following:-
All About Saving Ltd – This former claims management company was authorised by the CMR at Unit 2, Express Networks, I George Leigh Street Manchester, but surrendered it’s license in August 2016. The firm was placed into voluntary liquidation in April this year by Ciaran Hamilton and his co-directors and which included a declaration of solvency.
However an old post on the consumer forum website, Legal Beagles seems to throw up a connection between All About Saving Ltd and another former CMC, Key Financial Claims. The post states a friend was cold called regarding a PPI claim and the documentation given showed “Key Financial Services take a 29% cut of any fees reclaimed, and pay 70% of this to All About Saving Limited.”
Key Financial Claims also went into liquidation but the directors continue to operate as the CMC, Family Money Savers Ltd. (See our blog ‘Proposed FCA SMCR rules mean CMC’s are to disclose conduct details from the past 6 years’ for more detail)
Chadney-Smith Associates Ltd – An existing CMC who were authorised by the CMR in June 2017. Ciaran Hamilton was a director of this company from July 2017 to September 2017, and was appointed a person with significant control. Co- directors included Damien Kennedy and a confirmation sheet dated 3rd July 2017 lists the shareholders as Nicholas Smith, Ciaran Hamilton, Legal and Financial Solutions Ltd and disqualified director, Mark Kennedy!
Hamilton was replaced in September 2017 by Carolina Costa who has connections to Direct Financial Claims Ltd (see our earlier blogs for more detail) and who are currently under CMR investigation.
The latest filed account for Legal and Financial Solutions Ltd show net assets in excess of £2million yet on the 12th November 2018, Ciaran Hamilton ceased being a person of significant control, along with co-director Peter Cookson, and were replaced by Janus Vc Limited. Perhaps he is choosing to focus on Executive Alliance Ltd or Hamilton Philips Ltd instead.
Updated – LFS Claims Ltd no longer appear to be trading as they are not listed on the FCA register and the website is unavailable. However Ciaran Hamilton’s other CMC, Shepherd and West Ltd has received temporary permissions from the regulator.
