UPDATED! Bollin Marketing Ltd – CMC’s, marketing services and banned directors
Updated: Mar 4, 2019
Bollin Marketing Ltd is a registered company[i] (CRM40386) with the Claims Management Regulator and lists the trading names of 'Bollin Marketing' and 'Housing disrepair claims' while the ICO register lists the trading names; ‘the pension’ people and ‘www.pensionreviews.co.uk’.[ii]
A google search of Bollin Marketing bring up a website which is ‘coming soon’[iii] but a search of the registration CRM 40386 produces websites for different trading names which are not listed on the CMR authorisation. This includes Compare myclaim and courtesycar247 as shown below:-
Bollin Marketing Ltd[i] is currently run by Andrew and Sophie Franks and Jack Greenwood but was originally set and managed until September 2016 by Edward Booth – the disqualified director who co-ran Secure My Leads Ltd the company which “duped its ‘customers’, who were searching for loans, into paying a brokerage fee of up to £69”[ii].
The other disqualified co-directors include Mark Kennedy who has links to the claims management company, Direct Financial Claims Ltd[iii] and David Carter Mullins who describes himself as a “Digital Social Media Marketing Specialist” on his Linked In Profile[iv] (which oddly omits any mention of Secure My Leads) for the company Hotpond Media Ltd where he was also a director for a very brief period.
The managing director of Hotpond Media is a Jonathan James Smith[vi] and he is also the director of Direct Financial Claims Ltd, who are currently under investigation by the regulator.
On 22nd February 2019 Andrew Franks and Jack Greenwood were sentenced after pleading guilty to bribery.[i] Four people have been sentenced for their part in a scam which saw 100 pieces of data a week stolen from Axa Insurance between July and December in 2015.
The City of London Police’s Insurance Fraud Enforcement Department (IFED) learnt AXA employee Shane Jerman stole customer data and passed it onto ex-employee Stuart McGill, who in turn sold it onto Jack Greenwood and Andrew Franks for their claims management company, Mid North West.
A bank account analysis revealed that McGill was regularly sending between £250 and £650 to Jerman, while receiving several thousands of pounds from a company called Mid North West himself. According to IFED, Jerman and McGill made approximately £18,250 between them.[ii]
IFED made enquiries into Mid North West Ltd, which was operating as a claims management company, and identified Jack Greenwood as a director and Andrew Franks as an employee.
On 22nd February all 4 men pleaded guilty and were sentenced. Greenwood was given 14 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. 180 hours unpaid work, £750 court costs and £3,000 fine to be paid within three months. Andrew Franks, was sentenced to 7 months imprisonment, suspended for 18 months. 180 hours unpaid work, £750 court costs and £3,000 fine to be paid within three months.
On 27th February Companies House were notified of Jack Greenwood and Andrew Franks resignations from Bollin Marketing Ltd, leaving Sophie Franks as sole director.
On 28th February Andrew Franks and Jack Greenwood were appointed as directors of XYZ Tech Ltd, replacing Sopehie Walton, Hannah Turnbull and Paige Summersgill. Paige Summersgill used to run the company, Smart Social Media with Edward Booth and Christopher Brotherton.
